An Unexpected Introduction to the Horse World
At 18, Toby was a dedicated rugby and cricket player with no knowledge of horses—he thought the only rule was to drive past them slowly! That all changed when he met his girlfriend, a GB dressage rider, who quickly immersed him in the equestrian lifestyle. Suddenly, he was waking up at 4 AM for competitions, mucking out stables, filling haynets, and turning out horses. It was a whole new world, and he was thrown in at the deep end.
PONYJET WAS BORN
The Struggle That Sparked an Idea
Of all the jobs he took on, the most frustrating by far was bathing his girlfriend’s grey horse. No matter how much he scrubbed, it was a daily battle against mud, poop, grass, and stubborn stains. Fed up with the endless struggle, Toby knew there had to be a better way. That’s when the idea for PonyJet (now PetJet) was born—a portable soap gun designed to make washing horses faster, easier, and less stressful for both horses and owners.
A Viral Sensation & Rapid Growth
What started as a simple solution quickly took off. Within just 12 months, Toby’s invention gained over 10 million views and 50,000 followers online. Demand skyrocketed, leading to multiple sellouts—sometimes faster than he could restock. He learned everything on the job, from product development to supply chain logistics, and even secured retail partnerships worldwide.
Expanding the Product Line
As the brand grew, so did its product range. Toby expanded beyond the original washing device, introducing hot showers, shampoos, conditioners, sprays, and a full line of grooming accessories to make pet care even easier. Featuring on Horse&Hound and The Field Magazines as well as at horse shows up and down the UK with friends at Drimee.
From PonyJet to PetJet—A New Chapter
A few years later, Toby met UK breeder and serial entrepreneur Richard. Together, they thought they could bring the same convenience and innovation to the dog market. This expansion led to the creation of PetJetCo, broadening the brand’s reach to help even more four-legged companions.
